World Cup Octopus – Paul predicts Spain to beat Germany, plus VIDEO

Just when you think you’ve heard it all, another mind-boggling story comes along. In case you didn’t already know today will see the second semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa and it will be Germany vs Spain. Now we hear of an incredible octopus that’s making the news as a World Cup match predictor. If you don’t believe me see the video below.

Apparently Paul the Octopus, who lives in the Oberhausen Sea Life Centre in Germany, has been predicting the outcome of World Cup matches. Two boxes are placed in front of him with the flags of the two countries on the fronts. Some food is placed in each box to get Paul’s mouth watering and then eventually he will lift the lid off a box to make his prediction, according to Andy Winter on Sky News.

It seems Paul has had a 100% success rate so far so could have cleaned up at the bookies. He successfully forecast the German win against England even though he originally came from England. This time however with the eyes of the Germany nation upon him he has sent the country into anxiety by choosing Spain as the winners, after initially teasing the Germans as he first went towards the German flag but then drastically changed his mind.

For more on this go to Sky News. To see the video look below. Maybe we should hope for Paul’s sake that his prediction is wrong this time, or he may have to leg it! What do you think of the World Cup octopus? We’d love to get your comments about this.
